Tarçın Film’s Horona Duranlar Documentary Wins Second Prize

Tarçın Film’s documentary “Horona Duranlar,” directed by Bahriye Kabadayı Dal, won second place at the 12th Ierapetra International Documentary Film Festival held on the Greek island of Crete. We congratulate them and wish them success. The film invites the audience on a journey from Turkey to Greece, where the kemençe and horo, instruments possess a magical power for the people of the Black Sea region, travel. The main character, Adem from Beşköy, is a young musician with a traditional lifestyle and a devout Muslim whose native language is Greek. After his youth in Istanbul, Adem returned to his hometown of Trabzon-Sürmene. Today, he continues to live in his village with his wife and three children, while also organizing concerts with musician friends from Turkey and Greece and organizing events in many countries to keep the traditions of our shared cultural heritage alive. With his sympathetic and unifying character and music, Adem “follows his heart,” quietly breaking the chains of prejudice and writing stories of hope for the future. You can find other information about the film on our FabriKHAS Screen website.
